Letter #76, 2021, Thursday, July 29: A Mass for Pope Francis will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31, 7 a.m., in the Tridentine rite, at St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal, Virginia, USA

    Friends,

I have just confirmed this news:

The parish of the Church of St. John the Baptist confirms that a special Tridentine rite Mass, in Latin, has been added for this Saturday morning, July 31, Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Founder of the Jesuit Order, at 7 a.m. in Front Royal, Virginia, at the head of the Shenandoah Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in America.

In addition, at the request of the staff of Inside the Vatican magazine, which has offices in Front Royal, not far from Christendom College, the parish priests, Rev. Daniel N. Gee, Pastor, and Rev. Thomas K. Shepanzyk, Parochial Vicar, have agreed to celebrate this special Mass specifically for:

Pope Francis, that the grace of God may be poured out upon him, so that he may receive every good gift from above, of wisdom, of prudence, of courage, and of charity, as he leads and guides the Catholic Church, invoking as well the intercession of Our Lady, the Blessed Mother of God, Mary Most Holy.

We invite all Catholics in the area, and all non-Catholics as well, who wish to pray along with us for Pope Francis, to join us at this special Saturday, July 31st Mass. Parking is available nearby.

Once again, a special Mass, in the old Latin rite, will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 120 West Main St. in Front Royal, Virginia, at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit Order.

We invite all readers to share this news, especially with those who may be in northern Virginia and so might be able to attend this special Mass for Pope Francis.

P.S. At the 36:49 mark we begin to talk about a pilgrimage to the Shenandoah Valley. You might take a look at those few seconds and consider whether you might like to join us toward the end of October when all the Valley is ablaze with the red, orange and gold of the changing leaves.
