“Deepen your knowledge of Jesus. This ends loneliness, overcomes sadness and uncertainty, gives real meaning to life, curbs passions, exalts ideals, expands energies in charity, brings light into decisive choices. Let Christ be for you the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” —St. Pope John Paul II

Dear friends,

We have great hope: that in Christ, all things are possible.

Together, we can be the Church — the called and gathered Body of Christ — even when our physical gathering is only possible from afar.

The Truth is that we are One by the very nature of our Baptism. We are all in this together, and together we will weather these storms -— be they viral global health concerns or economic uncertainty — but we can only do this together.

To continue to bring the faithful together during these times of isolation, we have organized two “Virtual Pilgrimages,” both of them with the Bishop of Assisi, in the past two weeks.

If you missed these Virtual Pilgrimages live, you can still find the videos on our Inside the Vatican Pilgrimages YouTube Channel. Joining us live allows you to participate, enjoy the conversation at the end of the pilgrimage, and ask questions. To join us live on our next pilgrimage, click here.

Our friend, the Bishop of Assisi, Domenico Sorrentino, joined us for both of these pilgrimages. On the May 1, 2020, Virtual Pilgrimage to Rome, the bishop sang the famous “Canticle of the Creatures” of St. Francis for us. On our May 8, 2020, Virtual Pilgrimage to Assisi, Bishop Sorrentino gave a spiritual reflection on the crucifix that spoke to St. Francis while we viewed this very crucifix.

Many readers came together this week to support our work by donating in our Giving Tuesday campaign, which was a global day of giving and unity as an urgently needed response to the needs caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.

We have extended our Giving Tuesday Campaign until Monday night at midnight, thereby making it a week-long giving event.

Together, the Inside the Vatican family would like to thank all who have supported us in this work this week. Every donor is invited to join us in a live Zoom “Meet and Greet” on Wednesday, May 13th at 1:00 pm, EST. The entire ITV team will be present on camera for this Zoom “Meet and Greet” to say “Thank you!” for walking with us in our work and supporting us so generously. You will be able to participate by asking questions and sharing your thoughts.

All donors to this campaign will automatically be receiving an email on Tuesday, May 12th, with all the details about how to join the Wednesday Zoom ‘Meet and Greet.”

It is not too late to join us this Wednesday to meet the entire Inside the Vatican family. Just click below to donate and your invitation will be automatic. And, don’t forget to join us this Friday for Part 2 of our very special Virtual Pilgrimage to Assisi.

Your help works in so many ways: It keeps all of our projects going and ensures that they can continue long into the future — to continue to be a Light to in this world.

Whatever is within your means, we are grateful for it — whether it is $25, $250, $2500 or more. You sustain us in this crucial work!

We are exceedingly grateful for each and every one of you – for your faithful readership, and for your ongoing support.

I will say it again: We cannot do this without you.

In gratitude for your giving in these difficult times, I would like to give a gift to all donors. If you give online this week, we will show our appreciation with a code to access a FREE Digital Copy of the May issue of Inside the Vatican Magazine.

You are in my prayers.

In Christ,

Dr. Robert Moynihan
