Join Us On #GivingTuesday!
I hope everyone had a joy-filled Thanksgiving day weekend with their family and friends. This was my first holiday without my beloved mother. My family gathered with my father to give thanks for our many years together.
It is now the evening of “Giving Tuesday.”
The day was established in 2012 to focus attention on supporting good causes rather than on purchasing costumer items in the days leading up to Christmas.
It has become increasingly popular as people across the world have come together on this day to give generously to a multitude of causes.
In the current religious and cultural crisis, our non-profit, Urbi et Orbi Communications, continues to do three things which are in need of support:
1. Publication of the monthly magazine Inside the Vatican1. The occasional Moynihan Letters, on issues facing the Church and the world, from the abdication of Pope Benedict in 2013, to the case of the little boy Alfie in England this past spring, to the present crisis in the Church over clerical sexual abuse and the best way to protect young people
2. The Urbi et Orbi Foundation, which seeks to “build bridges” between Catholics and Orthodox in view of greater mutual understanding and an eventual closer union between our Churches
3. To carry out these projects, we do not have the millions or billions of dollars available to governments, major companies, think tanks, universities and religious orders.
So if you would take this opportunity to support our work with a donation, it would mean so much to us, and be so helpful, as we continue to print and mail the magazine, write the letters, and travel to support Christian unity despite all the grave obstacles it faces.
Even $10 or $20 would be very, very helpful to us.
Your giving means that we can continue our independent reporting on the issues facing the Vatican and the Catholic Church today.
Thank you for helping.
