The Western industrialized nations have spent four generations busily developing all kinds of birth control methods to stop population growth in the world’s poor countries. In this process, they have gone against Christian beliefs and values. But they have also gone against their own interests, rightly understood. Those who embraced the pills and used all those gadgets that were invented to destroy the normal functions of the human body were the people of the West, the women of the West. They are now suffering from the most serious population implosion in history and from untold physical ailments and diseases.

It is affecting their economy, but nobody dares mention it.

It is destroying their future, but nobody wants to blame themselves for their own demise.

It has increased divorce rates to astronomical levels, and they don’t recognize the catastrophe.1

The poor, whom God blessed with inborn wisdom, rejected most of those methods, not always successfully, but still, they are not succumbing as rapidly as the West. Africa is still victorious, being the only continent left replacing its population.

But the Western countries do not give up easily. They are conditioning all aid given to entities such as the United Nations, NGOs and others like the International Planned Parenthood Federation to include active programs of artificial methods of birth control and sterilization before releasing financial aid. Abortion is not legal in most developing countries, but morning-after pills are now readily available. At the shameful International Conference on Population and Development, January 8, 2010, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, “Population control will now become the centerpiece of US foreign policy.”

The secretary added that “63 billion dollars had been approved over a period of 6 years for global health, which includes the prevention of millions of unintended pregnancies”!

She also confirmed that in the year 2010, the United States renewed funding to the United Nations Population Fund for “reproductive health.” This means artificial birth control, sterilization and abortion wherever it is legal, as in China and India. Mrs. Clinton also confirmed that the US Congress recently appropriated more than $648 million in foreign assistance to family planning and reproductive health programs worldwide. This is the largest annual allocated amount in more than a decade. When the Republican Congress took control in 2011, the funding allocated diminished slightly to $575 million. One may wonder why the Republican-controlled Congress wishes to continue the chemical warfare against women and the family.

Every year pro-life entities petition their congressmen to stop violating the “Tiahrt Amendment,” which places requirements on voluntary family planning projects receiving assistance from USAID. The family planning projects are often coercive and people are not informed of the dangers of the methods they are being presented, inducing innocent recipients to methods that also act as abortifacients. In addition, they have been destroying the health of millions of women in rich and poor countries alike. Numerous studies have confirmed the carcinogenicity of estrogen-progestin contained in the various methods of artificial birth control.2

Cancer-Causing Drugs

We cannot ignore the grave damage being inflicted on women using these known carcinogenic drugs. In the United States alone, according to the National Cancer Institute, the cumulative lifetime risk of breast cancer is now 1 in 7 women, up from 1 in 12 just 30 years ago. There has been a 40% increase in the incidence of breast cancer in the last 30 years.3 It is the women between the ages of 50 and 65, who had access to legalized abortion and birth control when they were of reproductive age, who account for most of this increase. Even with the best treatment this country can offer, 40,000 women die of the disease each year.

GRAFICO-1In June 2005, 21 scientists of the World Health Organization’s International Agency of Research on Cancer met in France. After careful review of the world’s literature, they declared that estrogen-progestin combination drugs used in the birth control pill and hormone replacement therapy were carcinogenic not only for breast, but also for cervical and liver cancers as well. The risk of breast cancer remains for 10 years after stopping these estrogen-progestin drugs, because synthetic estrogens and progestins are potent sex steroid drugs.

Who Stands to Benefit from these Programs?

Certainly not the families of the developing world whose only treasures they have left are their children and their faith. Additionally, we have been violating not only their constitutions (as most poor countries do not allow abortions, surgical, chemical or mechanical), but also their faith and traditions as they are never informed of the serious consequences of these methods or their mode of action.

Imagine the holocaust being caused to the poor in developing countries where there is hardly any treatment to be had! And what about all those other methods that have been removed from the market due to class action suits? Unfortunately, they continue being shipped overseas to billions of unsuspecting women.4

GRAFICO-2We are all aware that in poor countries clinics are stocked with massive amounts of artificial birth control methods, but no basic medicines to cure common diseases. Why? Because there are special interest groups who are more interested in trying to control their population than helping them survive in the sub-human conditions they live under.

It is not surprising that the people of the Third World question the values of the West. They are destroying their youth with immoral sex education programs in public schools and plunging them into promiscuous behavior. This has resulted in an epidemic of venereal diseases — 1 of every 5 Americans has them.

This is endangering the family and its future. We must not forget also the destruction of millions of unborn babies through chemical and mechanical devices. Population control programs have been a source of animosity against the noble people of the United States, whose tax dollars are being used to inflict further suffering on unsuspecting women who often live in sub-human conditions. The continuation rate of artificial methods of birth control is very low because women cannot tolerate such strong steroids in their system. Therefore, the waste of money should also become an important issue for discussion. Often when they return to the clinics to have devices removed, they are denied this right.

How Families Can Postpone Pregnancy

We are aware that poor families need to space their children, but the end does not justify the means. For the past 40 years, Natural Family Planning methods have proven to be more efficacious than artificial methods of birth control and their continuation rate is far superior to that of artificial methods.5

Suggestions for an Amendment

We should request that the senators of the United States government use the $575 million allocated in 2012 for artificial methods of birth control to benefit the poor as follows:

1) medicines for malaria and tuberculosis (the most deadly diseases of the poor); 2) drilling water wells; 3) water filters for the poor; 4) education in nutrition, hygiene, and oral re-hydration, and 5) food for those who are starving in the developing world. Such measures would stop this chemical warfare against women and the family that has already destroyed the future of the West.
